I’m Tanner McCord. I moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma in May of 2023, but my love for this city began long before then. As a student at the University of Arkansas, I traveled many a weekend to here to visit friends, tackle Oktoberfest, and see as many shows as I could at Cain’s and The Vanguard downtown. Eventually, I made up my mind that I’d be moving here, and I got an opportunity to do exactly that. 

I came here to join a chef’s collective called Et Al and spent an eventful year and a half there. In that time, I spent my fair share researching the tools I was using, and I became borderline obsessed with Japanese cutlery and the intention behind each knife. 

With such a rich history, entire villages dedicated to knife making, and hundreds of mom and pop makers, it is a world where there is always something to be discovered, and I want to bring pieces of that back to share with my own community. Oklahoma’s budding food scene cannot go unnoticed, and I want to help provide this area, and beyond, with the best tools to nurture this scene as it grows. That includes professional kitchens and home cooks, all the same.

In addition to providing the tools, Broadtail Knife Company is dedicated to keeping them sharp, and cared for. It may sound silly, but a sharp knife can completely change how you view each and every prep task, and we’re here to keep your whole block ready for anything.
